The impact of primary health care and specialist physician supply on amenable mortality in Mexico (2000–2015): Panel data analysis using system-Generalized Method of Moments

The study had a three-fold objective: (i) to estimate the amenable mortality rates and trends at national state level between 2000 2015 in Mexico; (ii) contribution of various causes death overall mortality; (iii) determine association health system inputs for period 2000–2015. We used panel dataset following care were analysis: density general practitioners, specialists nurses, as well hospital beds. find that fell from 136 per 100,000 2000, 124.1 nationally, with significant heterogeneity across states. Mortality due infectious diseases, diseases childhood, cardiovascular decreased, while deaths other non-communicable such diabetes, increased. There was negative practitioners specialist physicians, mortality. Our results indicate reducing burden must be priority. Improvements primary could lead improved disease detection earlier diagnosis which further reduce Mexico.
